Trigger Point Dry Needling
This physical therapy technique uses very thin needles to release tight, painful muscle knots and improve muscle function. By targeting specific trigger points, dry needling helps reduce pain, restore movement, and improve flexibility. During treatment, the needle may cause a brief muscle “twitch,” which helps the muscle relax and reset. Dry needling is commonly used for muscle and joint pain, sports injuries, headaches, TMJ, and chronic tension conditions.
How is dry needling different from acupuncture? Dry needling is based on Western anatomy and neuroscience; it uses fewer needles and focuses on treating muscle dysfunction.
